Local 412 has a call for fitters and welders at the San Juan Generating Station in the four corners area of New Mexico.

This is for B&W and the baghouses they are building.
B&W is working 7-10s, and this call should last for at least 7 weeks.

San Juan kicks off a major outage January 7th.
Last word this is suppose to go for about 8 weeks.

B&W has had a fair turnover with the bag houses at San Juan.

4-Corners Plant is scheduled for outage in January also.
Don't have any info on that one though.

Lonnie Dame is the BA for this area.

I spoke to the a GF at San Juan today, and Jan 7th is still the outage kick off.
Looks like they have quite a bit of work to do on this unit.
He said it would probably go closer to 10 weeks than 8.
They will be replacing the point heaters this go around.
EESI has crews preparing to start adding structural steel to the turbine deck, for their removal, now.

He said they would be putting in a call for welders tomorrow.
Also said they are still tossing around the time.
7-10's usally wins out. Did last outage, with some crews working 12's
The point heaters will be 7-12's.

Hi guys, I've never been there, but the folks I know who have, or considered it say that the plant doesn't pay sub. I'm an operator, and perhaps we're the only ones getting hosed because our hall is nearby. Look into it. Good luck, Merry Christmas,

Would a Kansas boy be able to get on out there on the 7th, or is there to many on the bench?

The job you are asking about was last January, Bro.
However, There are two outages slated for the first of 2009 here in the four corners area.

One outage is a major at The San Juan Generating Station.
This one shoud last for around 8 weeks. They generally work 6-10s with a few sundays thrown in.
EESI & B&W will have the bulk of this work.
B&W generally does the burners and EESI does the rest.
This one should kick off about the 5th of January.

The other outage is at the 4 Corners Generating Station.
I haven't heard to much about the duration of this one.

In any case, we will be doing two outages at the same time in this area after the first of the year.
The Business Agent for the 4 Corners area is George Riley.
His number is... 505 327-5420
Even though he beat me in the elections, he's a good man.
If you think you might want to work in New Mexico, I would suggest getting Local 412 a "Bio Sheet" on yourself.
They keep a list of travelers that they call on when needed.
It's even better to have your BA send in a Bio Sheet for you.

As far as work in New Mexico goes, Local 412 now publishes their Business Manager & Business Agent's monthly reports on their website.

Update!

412 just issued their news letter for the month of January.
http://www.ualocal412.org/MonthlyNewsLetter.htm

Looks like the outage at SJGS has been pushed back till the last of January.
They still plan on doing an outage at the APS 4 Corners plant at the same time.

In any case, looks like we have another month before things kick off around the 4 Corners area.
